“I was very new to learning software-based synth and keys sounds when I took Kevin’s workshop. I wanted to know. I just didn’t feel equipped and confident in getting started. Kevin’s approach helped equip me to tackle that task. Informative and entertaining. I felt like I was being coached to take on the world. I look forward to learning more from him in the very near future.”
“I had the privilege to attend Kevin’s Keyboard & Mainstage Workshop during my stay in Dallas in 2016. His guidance, teaching and expertise in this field is of the best quality! After the course, I had a more comprehensive knowledge on Mainstage, the role of a keyboard player in a worship team, the different voicing used to create different sound effects and atmosphere in a song and was overall inspired to be my own creative with him encouraging us to use our own ideas. Not only was the standard of the teaching on the highest level, but it was also fun! Kevin creates a safe space for people to ask questions while having the best time playing around with what he is teaching us. After the course he still goes out of his way to help me when I need advice via email or skype. Kevin inspired me to share my knowledge learnt, equipping more people to become excellent their skills.”
“Working with Kevin was really something different! He knows what to push, what to turn up or down in order to turn a dull sound in a nice story that you want to go on and on, waiting for what’s next.He is funny, relaxed and most important inspiring! I am more a guitar guy, but few more sessions with him he would convince me to repent and convert :)The way I see future of Christian music, keyboards will be great again (loops, arpeggiators, etc...), so if you are not decided, just think about it!It would be a great gain to have someone like Kevin to walk you trough it! He knows his stuff and he is doing it with excellence. Did I mention the new chords I’ve learned from him? Best one: G sus (Jesus chord - just awesome!) Thank you Kevin! We are looking forward for some other training sessions with you!”
“The workshop was very eye opening and inspiring for me. It opened up a whole new level of creativity. A few days later I tried to use different pads, synths, and pulses. It was a new way of thinking for me. Like film scoring and energy instead of thinking only in chord structures and inversions, etc.I was inspired to try new things, to use more of the possibilities the mainstage application offers. It will take a few more months until I will be able to implement all that I learned in this three-hour-course.I am already excited to try everything I learned.”
“Kevin led a workshop in our church for keyboard players from all over West Michigan. It was brilliant! He offered a little something for everyone, and we all walked away feeling encouraged, inspired, and stretched! With humor, story and live demonstration, Kevin addressed both technique and technology, and how they both apply to modern worship. This one workshop alone will open tons of doors for us! Thanks Kevin, for being so generous with all that you’ve learned!”
“I absolutely loved Kevin’s workshop. It was not only informative; it was fun! Kevin has a way of answering any questions you may have about keyboards and keyboard settings. He is really direct and makes you feel comfortable. I enjoyed learning more about omnisphere and mainstage. I work primarily with mainstage, and I am not the most “techie” person. I was trained classically on the piano. So, just learning to turn on the keyboard and laptop was new to me! Kevin gave those who were classically trained a challenge. He said to try playing our favorite worship tune with just 4 notes per chord. That was fun to try! I also like “having freedom” to improvise instead of playing note-for-note. Kevin also said something that will stick with me. He said, “God doesn’t care if you are happy or about your happiness. He cares more about your obedience.” I’ve always felt called to play in church but have always been hesitant due to electronic equipment. It is hard for me to catch on to technical stuff FAST. I like to take my time because I like to do it right the first time. Kevin took his time showing the different pad sounds and how one could switch around the sounds with just a slide of a knob. I liked the different levels that he demonstrated and I understood a little more about what I could do when I was playing different settings. I used to be one of those who only played the pad sounds and didn’t “mess around”. But now I understand I can be a little more bold with blending sounds. I highly recommend if you are given the opportunity to attend one of Kevin’s workshops that you go! ”
“Kevin’s course contains simple and exciting explanations of fundamentals about Mainstage3, Synthesis, and Chord Progressions from Kevin. For me it was very inspiring. His class was a great way to get an overview of the world of modern worship. It was also a great opportunity for every beginner who is looking for advice on how to get reasonable sound on a budget.Kevin was well able to convey his class material in an interesting and easy manner. We loved it!”
